DOIT
I am not bad, I have ADHD!
Ideation & Problem
I am very grateful and excited when I do research and design apps to make a better life for the kids.
DOIT is a research project which aimed to identify the most appropriate interactive learning methods for children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) living in Isfahan, Iran.
The aim of this app is to help children, teachers as well as parents in the learning process.
User Research & Solution
DWe did the user search through three methods of LR, observation, and interviews.
1) Review the existing studies
2) Observation of ADHD children to understand when, how they get distracted, and finally what they do.
3) Interviews with their parents and teachers.
We found out that the main pain points of ADHD children toward learning are;
-
Unabeling to focus s after 20 mins
-
Often forgetting to write down homework assignments, do them, or bring completed work to school.
-
Having issues with projects requiring long attention (more than 4 months) especially if no direct supervising or leading is provided.
-
Having problem to do teamwork and finish their parts
Based on our research results, the best interactive design learning solutions for ADHD children integrate the following three solutions :
-
Reward system and positive attitude (reinforcement) in the whole learning process
-
Easy and straightforward process
-
Discipline-based process and task
-
Distinguish between defiance and distraction
-
Intervention Management: behaviors that disrupt concentration or distract other students
